Medallion Shield Program:

Shield Participants, Star Participants

The stars you see on this web page have been awarded to the applicant for the completion of a specific set of requirements. Please note, these stars are not a rating system such as one might find for a restaurant or hotel, nor is this a competition.

The number of stars is, however, an indicator of the effort an operator has put into achieving a level of safety greater than the minimum FAA requirement. Please note that since the start of the program in 2002, applicants have been continually entering the program, so one applicant may have more stars than another just because they have been at it longer. It must also be emphasized that all applicants must be moving forward in their respective programs as there is a minimum requirement for an applicant to achieve at least one star a year or they are subject to being removed from the program.

In the Medallion program each star signifies the accomplishment of a specific set of requirements. After achieving all five stars, the applicant undergoes a Medallion Shield Audit to determine if all of the policies and procedures set forth in the stars have been incorporated into the company culture. Once the Medallion Shield Audit is completed the Medallion Shield is presented to the applicant.
